We’ve just spent some really nice days on Omø, a tiny island in the Great Belt (Paul’s favourite island!). As always we had a great time, and yesterday the snack bar even opened so we could eat some delicious fries 🙂
Today we left Omø with the plan of going all the way to Stubbekøbing. The wind and weather predictions looked alright, but as soon as we got on the water it seemed that even the weak wind we had had disappeared. At some point we turned on the motor, hoping that the wind would pick up again soon after. But after an hour of motor-sailing we had to face that we would only have low winds for a while.
Therefore we decided to change our destination to the little island of Femø and set sails again – Femø was close enough for us to reach it before sunset even with around 2 knots. We had nice conditions for butterfly sailing and did so with full sails (even this just brought us to about 2.5 knots). Luckily it was a sunny day and we could enjoy being almost the only boat on the waters here all day.
As the conditions were so calm we also decided to fly the drone while sailing for the first time. We were a little nervous about the take off and landing, but everything went well! Although I got a little bruise on my finger from catching the drone a little too fast. We are so excited to look through the footage!
Now we’ve explored the island by bike, it’s very cute here! Unfortunately the little shop is closed for the day, so it seems we have another day with pasta here on board. Tomorrow we can hopefully stop by Stubbekøbing to stock up on some more food alternatives 🙂
