Since our arrival to Bornholm several things have changed. Starting with the crew, Johannes a friend from Dresden arrived and will stay with us until we are back to mainland Sweden. Furthermore we had Clara visiting for two days, she is also from Dresden and currently on an interrail trip. What a nice coincidence that this also led her to Copenhagen and with that to us. Since yesterday we also have Jascha on board, joining us until we are back to Sweden. Our crew member Simone still makes sure that we do not get confused too much by the changing faces and will also be on board until we get to Sweden. The next thing that changed is the weather. Bornholm is treating us well with a lot of sunshine and finally rising temperatures. Most of the days we don’t even wear merino underwear anymore.
It is only necessary when the wind picks up and makes sailing at least complicated if not impossible. At days with lower wind speeds we sail around the island stopping in Allinge, Gudhjem and Svaneke. The harbours here are rather small and in touristy times completely packed but we are so early in the season that we always find a spot easily. Every city here has it’s own highlight, nice ice cream, a Netto 20 meters away from the boat, beautiful cliffs, a chicken shitting contest and hiking trails or a Sauna. We certainly have a good time here and we get more and more into a summer holiday mood. At the same time we feel that it’s about time to leave Bornholm behind and sail a good distance north.
Tomorrow we will start with a short sail to Christiansø and the day after we hope to reach Karlskrona and with that also our first archipelago. We are excited to find out if it is true what many sailors have told us about the beauty of the Swedish archipelago.
