Soon, we will have sailed for three months already, which means that the point of (no) return is approaching, and we will start heading south again. We have decided to continue north to Örnsköldsvik, at the northern end of the High Coast area. While sailing from the picturesque Häggvik to Swedens highest island (236m!) Mjältön today, we crossed the 63rd degree north. On the trip, I spent some time on Google maps to figure out, how far up in the north we actually are now. We are approximately at the same height as:
- The Norwegian city of Trondheim 🇳🇴
- The southern tip of Iceland 🇮🇸
- The St Lawrence Island west of Alaska 🇺🇸
- Only a tiny bit further south than Nuuk 🇬🇱
- Lastly, we are further north than the northernmost point of the Faroe Islands 🇫🇴
All in all, we are proud that we have gotten this far up north with our floating home during the last three months time. Now we are excited to discover Högakusten in all its beauty the next couple of days, before slowly making our way towards Désirées home port Bogense again – at 55.5 degrees north 🇩🇰
The endless days up here are beautiful, but we want to get back before they turn in to endless nights!
